LO 6.3.0.4 issue

It's irritating that every time I fire LO Writer up I get a tip (I've
ticked off the checkbox) and get a top of screen invitation to read the
release notes. Is there a setting or other way to disable both of these?

Thanks,

D

Re: LO 6.3.0.4 issue

Hi.
I am on 6.3.4.2 and I just unchecked the little box bottom left of the
tip dialogue box and it no longer presents itself at startup.

yes I've done that and the next day there it is again. Not a deal
breaker but irritating.

Re: LO 6.3.0.4 issue

The checkbox sets a flag to the registry [1], which is working well. The same is true for this WhatsNew infobar that shows up the first time you start a new version [2]. So my guess is that your user space is readonly or will be cleared regularly. Can you please elaborate a bit on your environment?

Re: LO 6.3.0.4 issue

Yes, more information about your OS and setup would help.

Since this seems not to be a problem many people have seen, you can
also try a couple of things.

One, if you are using plugins, try disabling them and see if the
problem persists.

Two, try creating a fresh profile. Some recent changes have forced me
to redo the profile.

To test the profile, simply go to your profile (e.g., in most/all Linux
versions a folder located in the hidden .conf folder of the home
directory) and rename it. Then start LO, which will create a new,
default configuration folder. If you can close and re-open without the
tip of the day reappearing, then you can either redo your profile from
there or manually copy element from your old profile to identify the
problem. Being able to copy most of the old elements saves redoing the
whole profile (e.g., templates, installing extensions, changes in look
and behavior, etc.)
