Hi all,

The tag libreoffice-4.0.5.2 (AKA 4.0.5 RC2) has been created. This is
the last scheduled RC.

Attached is the list of changes against RC1

To checkout the tag, use

./g fetch --tags
./g checkout -b tag-libreoffice-4.0.5.2 libreoffice-4.0.5.2

Linux distro packages might find source tarballs at
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/
They will soon be available from the official page together with the builds.

This message was created on the 13th but files are already being uploaded for RC2 and they are from the 14th, a little more than 24 hours later... I hope all is ok because there is obviously no interest in running these builds through QA

BTW the 4.0.5.2 files are reporting "Access forbidden!
You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server. "

I think that it is a misunderstanding of this announcement mail. What do
you mean by no interest in QA, please?

We send several announcements for each build:

        + reminder about a release:
+ is sent before the tag is created
+ warns developers and QA that there is last
chance to commit a fix or escalate a critical bug

+ announce of a tag and branch (this mail):
+ is sent when the tag or branch is created
+ it informs developers and QA that all further fixes
will go into the next release
+ also it is a heads up for QA that the related build
                  will be available soon

+ announce of builds for early testing
+ is sent when builds are available at
                  http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases
+ allows to do smoke test before the builds are
available on mirrors and accessible from official
                  download page

+ announce of builds available on official download pages
+ is sent when builds are on mirrors
+ allows testing by many people
+ if it is RC1, there is usually more than
one week to report bugs before the
                  deadline for RC2

I have just fixed it. The 4.0.5.2 .msi files had permission 700. Also
the debs had strange permission.

We have finally started to provide all builds by TDF-owned machines.
Any change could bring regression. Cloph, please make sure that it is
better next time ;-)

Best Regards,
Petr

I also don't quite get that comment.

Thanks for fixing up

ciao

Hi Pedro, *,

better to clarify this before people get frustrated because of talking
about different things...

This is the usual process - tag is created, people doing the
release-builds start the builds and upload to the pre-release location
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases
This as you write is usually completed within 24hours (maybe not for
the full builds, but Linux and Mac (intel) are available during the
night/early next day.

> I hope all is ok because there is obviously no interest in running these builds through QA

And this is where I start to think that I might have missed an
announcement. As I was doing the builds, I didn't send the mail to
early-testing list immediately, but only today, after all builds were
available on pre-releases.

Do you want that mail immediately after the builds start uploading, or
do you even want an additional mail to the QA-List besides
announcement of the tag?

> BTW the 4.0.5.2 files are reporting "Access forbidden!

That of course was unfortunate, and even more reason to have this tested.

So please state what you were missing this time / what you wish for,
and I'll add that to my checklist.

ciao
Christian
