[Libreoffice-qa] Meta bug telegram group

Hi All,

For all those interested in the organization efforts that have been going on with meta bugs, i've created a meta bugs telegram group for us to coordinate our efforts. Everyone is welcome to join using the link below[1], either with the telegram app[2] on your desktop or phone or through their web app[3].

Re: Meta bug telegram group

Hi Yousuf,

Thanks for all the constant effort you're putting into grouping the bugs. It helps a lot to deal with this beast called Bugzilla.

However, I would like to mention that the official communication channel for QA is #libreoffice-qa in freenode ( and its recently created bridge for Telegram [1] ) and it should be, IMHO, the right place for metabug coordination.

Is there any reason why you prefer to use that telegram channel instead of the IRC channel?

In my opinion, discussing metabugs in the IRC channel allows everyone from the team to participate ( specially those without a Telegram account ), plus it may encourage others to start using the metabugs too.

Just my two cents.

Regards

Re: Meta bug telegram group

Hi Xisco,

I no longer open IRC, so the IRC channel isnt useful for me. I previously would discuss meta bugs in the QA telegram group with Thomas, but the messages would get lost in the many messages that would come through on the group, so creating a separate dedicated group for it means that i wouldnt miss any meta bug related messages, even if i decide to ignore or quit the QA telegram group.

One option that could be taken, which was taken for the appimage telegram group, is to create a meta bug IRC channel and bridge it to the telegram group, so those only on IRC who want to be involved can also communicate with those only on telegram.

Re: Meta bug telegram group

Hello all

I'm confused with all those Meta bugs. Looks like there are so many of
them that I wonder how that can help. I wasn't here on the list so I
don't know if that's explained somewhere.
In my view, we don't need them like that, and similar bugs can be
found by search.

Meta should gather hot and annoying bugs, like old cut-copy-paste
bugs, or recent distorted fonts, or speed issues from 5.3 or something
that helps finding the underlying issue.
Something that goes beyond "dataLoss" and "perf" keywords.

Regards
Timur

What about using a tag at the beginning of the message like ie. #meta? That way you could easily search for them later on.

Yes, that could be another option too.

Someone else has other opinions on this?
