Minutes from the Tue Dec 18 infra call

Agenda
======

 * OS upgrade:
   + all 4 hypervisors now running Stretch (9.6), kernel 4.9.130-2
   + 16 VMs still on Jessie, incl. the website and download hosts
     . AI guilhem: upgrade vm134, vm186, vm185, vm168 in that order
 * Elasticsearch upgrade from 5.x (5.6.x will be EOL'ed on 2019-03-11) to 6.x
   + G: could be ignored since we might switch to weblate?
   + C: no, mid-march is too tight
 * Direct download links? https://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice?type=deb-x86_64&version=6.1.4&lang=en-US
   (+ version={fresh|still})
   + there is https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/?type=deb-x86_64&version=6.1.3&lang=en-US
     but it's not script friendly
   + https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/latest/
     isn't really script friendly either: still need to version sort manually,
     and substitute the version number, eg
     https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/latest/deb/x86_64/LibreOfficeDev_6.2.0.0.beta1_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz
   + cloph: GET requests to the update check server with a fake User-Agent
     gives the latest version number for that OS & platform
 * No VG space left on vm185, cleanup or add another disk?
   + cloph: no pressing need for more disk space, what's left is enough for a
     single release + help packs
 * AI guilhem (Wed Jan 2nd 2019): better separation between VPN and internal
   IP space within the rack (connected to the 10G switch)
   + cloph: would be nice to have that now since many TBs are connected from
     jenkins with JNLP not SSH
   + Intranet: vmXYZ's br1 to 10.188.3.XYZ (need to be accessed from berta and
     monitoring)
   + Swiss hosts use 10.188.2.0/24
   + VPN: 10.188.10.0/24
     . create another pool for the tinderboxes, 10.188.11.0/24, + static IP
       allocation for VPN clients
     . firewall: jenkins & monitoring access to this subnet, but no access to
       backup, gluster, swiss boxes, etc.
 * AI guilhem (Wed Jan 2nd 2019): upgrade gustl firmware
 * Next call: Tuesday January 2019 at 18:30 Berlin time (17:30 UTC).

thanks a lot, all happened again magically in the background it seems,
well done!

Is that a RouterOS upgrade? Which baseline do we go for? 6.42.x or 6.43?

Yup, according to my notes upgrades were manually rolled out (one
hypervisor at a time) on Sat Dec 1st and Sun Dec 2nd between 01:00 and
03:00 UTC. :-)

Ah right, I meant OS not firmware.  No strong feelings, but given there
is nothing from 6.43.x we're lacking, I'd say the LTS branch (6.42.x).

Cheers,

Seconded, let's stay with the LTS version. You can upgrade both,
RouterOS and the RouterBOARD firmware, in that order, makes sense IMHO.

I have a family celebration that day, but feel free to poke me in case
of problems - RouterOS is one of the areas I can help out if needed. :-)
There were quite some changes to 6.42, so best is to run /export before
and after and do a diff, just in case. The release notes give insight on
what has changed, especially wrt. bridge implementation and removal of
master-port, which might affect us.
