http://libreoffice.boldandbusted.com/ cppcheck report jobs stalled

Hi *. Sorry to say that it appears a hardware problem (bad RAM) has put
a stop to cppcheck's 5 hour report runs that get pushed to
http://libreoffice.boldandbusted.com/ . I'm RMA-ing the RAM today, and
hopefully we'll see the replacements in a few weeks, if not sooner.

Sorry for not writing sooner. The current report will stay available
(the machine which does cppcheck runs is separate from the web server
which presents the results). I hope it is still valuable as a reference
until this problem is repaired.

I'll write again to the list when I have an update for you on major
changes to the status of this service.

Cheers,

Re: http://libreoffice.boldandbusted.com/ cppcheck report jobs stalled... no longer! :)

Hi again *,

After a long hiatus, this service is back on the air. I swapped out the
bad RAM for some good RAM, and hooray, we've got a fresh cppcheck report
at http://libreoffice.boldandbusted.com/ . I also hacked in sortable.js
for clickable, sortable column headings.

My hope is that this is useful to you! There were discussions (with
Julien and others) debating using either git master or "released"
versions of cppcheck, but since this machine is stable now, I'll keep
cppcheck on released versions (e.g. 1.49) until something really
annoying pops up in the report that should be eliminated. I'm still on
the hunt for some kind of easy script which makes a usable diff of HTML
pages, to be used to highlight new or removed cppcheck findings with
each run. If anyone has ideas in this vein, I'd love to hear them. :)

I see the excellent Tinderbox work is going strong. If my report isn't
really useful anymore due to work elsewhere, please let me know. Time
moves on, and perhaps this kind of thing is no longer useful or wanted.
If you have suggestions to make it easier or more useful, and they're
not too hard/expensive, I'll do what I can to make it better.

Anyway, Viva Libreoffice! :)

Cheers,

P.S. FYI, the reports seem to take a bit longer to run - 8 hours or so.

Excellent ! Even if I would have preferred a git version, it's great to see this report updated again. Cppcheck is a really good tool to detect problems.

I noticed that cppcheck made its report on the old repositories too, is it possible to remove the cppcheck scan on these ?

Hi Jesse - nah, quite the opposite, your continued contribution here
is much appreciated! Tinderbox is really just for getting normal
builds.

Cheers,

Hopefully, that's resolved for you? I see some "Directory index
forbidden by Options directive", which means it is likely you happened
to browse when the results from the crunching server were being
transferred to my web server (and index.html didn't exist there yet).

Cheers!

Sorry for the long delay, but when you say "old repositories" what do
you refer to?

I'll be glad to adjust the reports to make them more useful to LO devs.

Re: http://libreoffice.boldandbusted.com/ cppcheck report jobs stalled... no longer! :)

Hello Jesse,

No pb for the "long delay" :-)
What I meant by "old repositories" are these :
- calc
- libs-core
- writer
- etc.

These are deprecated since the one-git conversion. Now have "core".
So it could be useful to remove the old ones for 2 reasons :
- the length error/warning page would be divided by 2
- the time of computation of cppcheck would too be divided by 2

Another thing, it seems that the core repo is no more updated in the check for example the first line of the report is this :
1804 stlSize style Possible inefficient checking for 'listValues' emptiness. core/oox/source/ole/axcontrol.cxx
But this has been corrected since 18/08.

Hope it helps.

Julien.

Re: http://libreoffice.boldandbusted.com/ cppcheck report jobs stalled... no longer! :)

Hi Julien and *,

Can you specify which repos are now deprecated, explicitly? Or point me
to a document that states what's still active and what is not? It's the
"etc." that's confusing me. ;)

I'll remove the directories/repos you list.

Best,

IMHO The new repo is just only 'core' at
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/ which is the result of
merging all calc, writer, etc :-) In other words, all old repos are
obsoleted and the new one is just 'core'.

Re: http://libreoffice.boldandbusted.com/ cppcheck report jobs stalled... no longer! :)

Hello Jesse,

Just to be sure, is the cppcheck scan on the Master or on another branch ?

Do you think the machine which runs automatic cppcheck scan is stable enough to consider using the git version of cppcheck or do you want to test it more to detect other RAM pbs ?
It would be really great to have the last version.

Julien.

Seems stable now. I think it is likely that the previous segfaults were
largely due to the hardware problems with bad RAM. But, the only way to
truly know is to Just Do It(tm). I want to do one last run with the
changes I made to my automation scripts to get rid of the obsolete git
repos (now, just core is tested). Then, we'll jump to the Git-based
cppcheck. It might take a day. I just started watching the BBC's series
"House of Cards" and I've got a serious need to complete watching all
three of the trilogy. ;)
